Sand Dunes at Hokianga Harbour
These dunes represent the southernmost point of ninety mile beach. Charters take people across the water so they can toboggan on the sand. That is the Tasman sea to the left of the picture.
I don't imagine there are too many places you can do that. There are lovely sand dunes on Prince Edward Island, but they are protected, not even walking is permitted on them.
Here, they also run bus tours right on ninety mile beach. In fact, vehicle traffic on the beaches can be a bit of a problem.

Tobogganing in the sand sounds like fun.
